NO JARGON
No Jargon explores the meaning of the number ‘100’ in this case a list of 100 words word’s deemed ‘inaccessible’ by the Local Government Association.
This list of 100 has become the center of an investigation into the words defined as ‘inaccessible’ to the general public, an investigation that attempts to find the reasoning behind a word’s inclusion in the list. The book explores the 100 words as a theme of ‘Plain English’ creating a case study into the use of Plain English within the UK councils and their documents and communications, containing contributions by members of those UK councils. These contributions consist of a range of interpretations and opinions of the 100 from those working within the councils. The book also includes the actions taken by the councils to combat the use of jargon and their target of using Plain English within their council documents.
